Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 users can update their devices with the Pre-Rooted PACMan Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Based Custom ROM. As we all know that Samsung won’t be updating the low end device portfolio that they’re having. No worries anyways, the developer community rocks. You can update your device using the PACMan ROM that brings Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and the features of ParanoidAndroid ROM, CM10 and AOKP to the Galaxy Ace device.
As far as we know, the PACMan ROM is stable, and the users have been reporting it as very fast. Below are the features of the PacMan ROM.
- Comes Pre-Rooted
- Has Tablet UI
- All Sensors of the device work perfectly.
- Camera is working, Panorama also working.
- Some Custom Applications such as Apollo Music, CM file manager have been replaced.
- Wifi works
- Youtube is working
Warning and Disclaimer
This is all development stuff and in this tutorial we’ll be flashing the file in order to make it work on your device, rooting and flashing stuff voids the warranty of the mobile phone, but the warranty can be always retained by flashing the Stock ROM.
Backup everything that is stored on your device before proceeding with this tutorial. You can use our ADB Backup Guide or Nandroid Backup Guide (Root users) to back up everything that is stored on your device. Disable Kies, Antivirus Software, and Firewall as they can clutter in between the upgrading process. You can read our Guides on Backing up SMS messages, call logs, and Whatsapp messages.
Install PACMan Custom ROM on Galaxy Ace
Step #1: Download PacMan ROM and Gapps Package.
Step #2: Connect your Galaxy Ace device to your computer and then transfer both files to the root of your SD Card.
Step #3: Turn off your device now and boot it into recovery mode. Press and hold Volume UP + Home + Power button together and wait for the device to boot. You can operate recovery using volume rocker keys, and the power button to make any selection.
Step #4: In recovery mode, select “wipe data/factory reset” and select Yes on the next screen to confirm the same.
Step #5: Select “install zip from SD Card” then “choose zip from SD Card”. Select the ROM file that we had transferred earlier on the device and confirm the installation of the same on the next screen.
Step #6: Installation of the ROM file would take a while, after the installation is complete, install the Gapps Package using the same way.
Step #7: Head Back to the main recovery screen and select “reboot system now” after the completion of the installation.
That’s it. You’ve succesfully flashed the PACMan ROM on your Galaxy Ace Smartphone.
Do let us know if you face any difficulties while installing the ROM file on your device, we’re here to help you out.

i had tried to install PAC Man Rom on my s5830, but on startup it gets stuck on with cyanogenmod.
on installation i had performed:
- wipe data
- zip install from sd
- reboot
please suggest
You should Wipe the data after you have flashed the zip file from your sd card. This will fix the problem.
do i need to root my phone first??
To flash any custom ROM on your Android device, you have to install ClockWorkMod recovery… for which you should be rooted. So technically yes..
Hi All,
I have got a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 which had 2.2.1 – Froyo.
I updated it to 2.3.6 – GingerBread using Kies.
After that Rooted the Phone, installed CWM 5.0.2.6.
I took a complete backup of existing Original ROM – 2.3.6 using CWM and installed Cyanogen 7.2 which updated OS to 2.3.7.
Now everything was working on New ROM except GPRS.
So i tried to restore backup to original ROM using CWM but while restoring got an error:
Error while restoring “/system”
After this i cleaned up all Caches:
1. Wipe Data/Reset
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache
I have tried to restore Original ROM, Cyanogen 7.2 a lot of times now using same steps (Cleaning Cache before restoring ROM) but no ROM is working now and am stuck up badly. I have not cleaned Caches after installing ROM.
Please help me out.
Thanks
Restore Stock and try flashing again.
