Few days back we posted that the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 firmware for Galaxy S3 would be coming out soon, the update was expected to rollout through an OTA update in the first week of December. The firmware has been already leaked out, you can download and install the same on your device using the tutorial that we’re going to write today. One of the highlight of the Android 4.1.2 firmware is that it brings the Multi-Window feature to the device.
The Jelly Bean rollout for India has been already terminated due to bugs in the software, though I still don’t recommend anyone to update their devices with the unofficial firmware. The firmware build is I9300XXELK4 .
Features of the I9300XXELK4 Firmware
- Android 4.1.2 – JZO54K
- Multi-View (Multi Windows Multitasking, same as in Note II)
- Page Buddy
- Notification Panel (Notification Panel can now be customized)
- Smart Rotation (Screen Display adjusts to your angle of sightings)
- Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard (Like Swipe or Android 4.2 Keyboard)
- Paper Artist App (Same as in Note 2)
- New Gallery App (Same as in Note 2 –)
Backup everything that is stored on your device before proceeding with this tutorial. You can use our ADB Backup Guide or Nandroid Backup Guide (Root users) to back up everything that is stored on your device. Disable Kies, Antivirus Software, and Firewall as they can clutter in between the upgrading process.
Warning and Disclaimer
This is all development stuff and in this tutorial we’ll be flashing the file in order to make it work on your device, rooting and flashing stuff voids the warranty of the mobile phone but the warranty can be always retained by flashing the Stock ROM.
The SamMobile folks posted on their website that this is an odin flashable firmware that has been repackaged by them using the dump files, and if you flash this file on your device then it would increase the binary flash counter. The firmware will also change your device status to modified.

Step #1: Download the files given below:
Step #2: Unzip the firmware package and the Odin Package. Move the files to a convinient location of your computer to prevent any confusions.
Step #3: Start your Galaxy S3 into download mode. Press and Hold Volume Down + Home + Power Button and wait for the device until it boots up.
Step #4: Start Odin on your computer and connect your Galaxy S3 while it is in download mode. As soon as you connect your device to your computer, the ID:COM section under the Odin window will turn yellow and would start showing the COM Port number.
Step #6: Now, click on the PDA button and select the “I9300XXELK4_I9300OJKELK5_ILO.zip” file that we had obtained by extracting the firmware in step 2.
Step #7: Click the START Button now and wait until the flashing of the firmware completes. As soon as the installation is complete, your device would restart itself.
